Welcome to my world.

“Whose land is this? Mine, mine mine.”

That’s how some interpret the lion’s roar. But to keep it that way wildlife conservation and management is essential. More than 40 years ago I became District Representative for the East African Wildlife Society. My job was to make people aware of that developing countries in Africa need support from outside to preserve their wildlife for the future. Today most people know this, but it was not so in 1960. In fact it was the need for pictures to accompany wildlife campaigns that brought me into the field of wildlife photography. A field that was soon expanded to landscape, people and culture. Meeting with Ansel Adams deepened my interest for photography as such and in black and white photography in particular.
